Handling Fear in Real Life Situations

Fear is a natural chemical reaction in our bodies affecting our behavior from all possible angles. Being afraid is one of the most natural things and is basically an emotion triggered by something unknown, something new and especially something we consider important or dangerous.

Experiencing fear is usually followed with a rise in blood pressure, shaking, sweating and inability to speak fluently. Stronger scare can even lead to big motor problems, tunnel vision and emptying fluids (vomiting, crying, wetting one’s trousers).

Situations like a real fight usually have a great impact on one’s scare experience since it contains huge variety of factors that make people being afraid.

Street fight is the king of these situations.

To combat for real means to get hurt and sustain a certain amount of damage followed by pain. And nobody sane likes to feel pain.

When in a street combat, you mix the cocktail of uncertainty, threat, fuss and the need to escape immediately. You lose control over your body and you can turn in to one of the two natural behavioral states.

One of them is what I call “unresisting dog”.

You simply let your scare control you completely and show no sign of resistance what so ever. You let the opponent do what he wants, because you think this way you’ll survive.

People make this “trade” in their mind, thinking the opponent won’t hurt them more if they just let him do his thing. The scare is so strong it holds them back – not fighting.

The other one is the “berserker”.

These people lose their logic thinking and turn animal. They scratch, bite, scream, kick, twist and turn in order to get out there. Even in case of hurting them selves.

They lose their sanity because the fear literally knocked their brain out, working on autopilot.

You can prevent this only with one thing and that is – turning the greenness into certainty and challenge.

Without the proper training of your body and mind you will never be able to stand your ground in the street fight situation where your life is in jeopardy.

In environment where there are no rules, no referees to stop the combat, no coaches to throw in the towel, no backup team to watch your back you will experience emotions you have never even think they exist before.

If you live in hostile environment where the chances you could be mugged, raped, beaten or even killed are increased, you should consider learning and training how to handle a street fight struggle.

Get all the information you can about the real fight and practice until you will feel the results are coming. Train towards perfection.

Unless you turn the new into secure, you will never be able to handle your fear.

You have to find out how to control your fear and use it as the accelerator, not the intimidating person and it is not going to come without proper training.

There are more tested and reliable ways how to overcome fear.

Now you have found out that if you want to make the fear your weapon, you have to take an action. Better yet, learn more about the fear it self. Find out where it originates and improve your training according to that.
